US Senate and Democratic Representation

“All of this is further exacerbated by the widening gap between populations and how they are represented in government. All states have two senators, which means that Wyoming, with a population of under six hundred thousand, has the same representation in the Senate as California, with a population of some forty million.

Or think about it this way: twenty-two states with a combined population that approximates California’s have forty-four of the seats in the Senate. The Founders believed that such a system would help prevent a tyranny of the majority, but in fact the country has ended up with something closer to a tyranny of the minority”
